VATSIM Ratings

As a certified VATSIM Authorized Training Organization (ATO), SVA offers official pilot training that leads to recognized VATSIM ratings from P1 through P4. These courses are delivered through our custom-built SOAR learning platform and guided by experienced, certified instructors. Whether you're just starting out on the network or looking to master advanced IFR operations, our structured training ensures you’re prepared for success in both virtual and real-world aviation environments. All ratings earned through SVA are logged to your VATSIM profile and recognized globally.

737 Training

SVA offers optional training courses designed to help pilots master the Boeing 737 and operate it confidently within our virtual airline. Through our SOAR platform, pilots can access upcoming basic training courses that cover aircraft systems, flows, and fundamental procedures to get you up and flying quickly. For those seeking a deeper level of immersion, we also offer advanced Initial Training modeled after real-world airline standards, culminating in a virtual checkride to certify your ability to operate under SVA-specific procedures. Whether you're looking to sharpen your skills or challenge yourself with a realistic line qualification experience, all 737 training at SVA is optional and tailored to your pace.

Our custom-built LMS, SOAR (Southwest Online Aviation Resource), powers all training at SVA. Through SOAR, pilots can: Enroll in courses, Track training progress, Complete interactive lessons and quizzes, Communicate with instructors, Whether you're beginning your journey or building toward advanced certifications, SOAR is your gateway to structured, immersive learning.

How Our Training Operates

Training at SVA is structured around scheduled enrollment periods. During these windows, pilots can sign up for specific courses offered through our SOAR LMS. Once enrolled, pilots gain access to course materials, complete guided self-study modules, and participate in one-on-one or group flight lessons with an instructor. Most courses are designed to be completed within 4–6 weeks, depending on the program. This structured, yet flexible approach allows pilots to learn at their own pace while still benefiting from instructor mentorship and immersive virtual airline training.

Training Calendar

The Southwest Virtual Airlines Training Calendar provides a centralized overview of all upcoming training opportunities. It highlights enrollment windows, class start dates, and estimated course durations for both our VATSIM rating programs and 737 aircraft training. Pilots can use this calendar to plan ahead and stay informed about when new sessions will be offered throughout the year.
